Mermaid Royale by RTG

Dive beneath the waves and discover a colourful underwater kingdom in Mermaid Royale by RTG. This 5-reel slot combines mermaids, treasure chests and sparkling gems with a special Bonus Row and several unusual features. With 25 fixed paylines, Expanding Wilds, Free Spins, Re-Spins and random boosters, there is much more to this game than its attractive underwater theme suggests.

Mermaid Royale uses a 5-reel, 3-row layout with 25 fixed paylines. Above the middle three reels is an additional 3-position Bonus Row. This extra row plays an important role because special symbols can appear there and trigger some of the game's most interesting features.

The regular symbols include four different mermaid characters, together with coloured gems and traditional card symbols. The Wild symbol can substitute for regular symbols to help complete winning combinations. However, Wilds appearing in the Bonus Row have an additional ability that can make them particularly valuable.

The Expanding Wild feature is triggered when a Wild lands in the Bonus Row. Instead of remaining in its single position, the Wild expands downwards and covers the positions beneath it. This can turn one Wild into a complete Wild reel across the main game area, creating several opportunities for winning combinations.

The game also features several different types of Scatter symbols. Landing the required number of Scatters can trigger the Free Spins feature, while Special Scatters appearing in the Bonus Row can provide additional Free Games and introduce random boosters.

During the Free Spins feature, the middle reels can become an Oversized Symbol reel. Reels 2, 3 and 4 can display a large symbol covering multiple positions, while the outer reels continue spinning normally. This gives the Free Games a very different appearance and can create larger combinations when valuable symbols appear in the oversized positions.

Special Scatters can also activate Random Boosters during the bonus. These can provide a range of advantages, including a fully stacked Wild reel on reel 5, a 2x multiplier, or an increased chance of Wild symbols appearing on the Oversized Symbol reels. These random additions can make some Free Spins considerably more powerful than others.

Mermaid Royale also includes a Re-Spin feature connected to its Treasure Chest symbols. Landing the required combination of Treasure Chests can award 3 Re-Spins, with the middle reels changing into an Oversized Symbol that remains locked while the outer reels continue to spin. This creates another opportunity to build winning combinations without placing another bet.

The game's Free Spins can also be extended through additional Scatters, giving players the chance to keep the bonus running for longer. Because additional features and random boosters can appear during the Free Games, longer bonus rounds can become particularly interesting.

Mermaid Royale is generally described as a medium-volatility game. Published game information commonly lists an RTP of around 96.25%, although players should always check the exact game information displayed by their casino. Betting limits can also vary between casino versions.

Overall, Mermaid Royale by RTG is a feature-packed underwater slot that makes good use of its unusual Bonus Row. Expanding Wilds, Oversized Symbols, Random Boosters, Free Spins and Re-Spins all work together to create plenty of variety. The combination of the extra row and middle-reel features also gives Mermaid Royale a distinctive feel compared with more traditional 5-reel slots.

If you enjoy mermaid-themed slots, expanding Wilds, oversized symbols, Free Spins and bonus features, Mermaid Royale is well worth trying in free play. Dive beneath the waves, explore the underwater kingdom and see what treasures are waiting among the reels.
