I can't remember if I had a tricycle, but I do remember my first bike. It was a Western Auto Red Flyer with training wheels. I remember getting it for Christmas.
Since we had a big family, my mom and dad couldn't really afford too much for christmas, and I really didn't expect much. What usually happens is my brother and I would share each others Christmas presents.
But every year there would be a big box sitting on the porch every Christmas morning and one year I got my first bike.
I finally figured out who was leaving the presents on the porch. The principle of our grade schools were good friends of the family. Every year they would have a Santa day where all the kids could say what they want for Christmas. That's how he knew what to get.
That first bike had streamers on the end of the handle bars.
My first shiny new red bike.
