One of my fondest Halloween memories is from the early 80's. I had just moved to the subdivision where my brother and his family lived. The whole neighborhood got together and had a carnival for the kids in the park. People set up their camping tents as booths for food and games. We put up a tent and I dressed up as a gypsy and used a foreign accent. I had a large, real crystal ball (doesn't everyone
) that I used to tell each child fortune. My sister-in-law knew all the kids since she had 3 herself and had lived there for many years. Before she brought each child in she would brief me on each one. I would then tell them a fortune using facts she had told me. Since none of the kids knew me they were shocked I was actually giving them facts about their lives. We started out with small kids but word got around there was a "real" fortune teller and I had teenagers and even a couple of adults come into my tent. I was the hit of the carnival that year.
