Thanksgiving - Lots of food cooked by myself, or my son or daughnkter.
The kids like my stuffing. This year I will be going to my daughter's house. She will cook and I will make the pumpkin pies and one chocolate for my son in law.
I thank God for my family and my country.

My first year of being so far away from family, i decided to invite some of my close friends over for our first thanksgiving twenty years ago and we still celebrate it the same way today.
Food, friends, and people who are away from their loved ones this season.

well thanksgiving means food and good times with family. I like getting together with as many family members as I can.

emm means lots of work for me, but its wourth it getting to spend time with the grandkids, cooking there favorite food, adults drinking homemade wine playing trivia making fools of ourselfs, Love the holidays

For us here in Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated in October.
For my family, we started a tradition many years ago. When my younger brother was attending university here, he became friends with quite a few exchange students. Now, for most of them, Thanksgiving does not exsist in their home country. Learning what Thanksgiving is about makes it even more difficult being away from their own families and their homeland. So about 25 years ago, we started to host a Thanksgiving Dinner for these exchange students. At one point, we had more than 100 people. Many of the students would bring a traditional dish from their culture that would be made for special holidays. It was great to give them all a sense of family belonging when they couldn't be with their respective families. We would also have them join our family for Christmas.
Most of the students have since returned to their families and homelands. But we still receive cards, letters and e-mails from many of them. If they happen to be here when there is a holiday, they always re-join our family to celebrate.
I am thankful for all those who are a part of my life. My daughters and husband, my siblings, my mom, and the many wonderful friends we have made over the years. If I could have one wish, it would be that the people of the world stop to share this day and learn about each other. Then maybe at some point in our lifetimes, we could all be thankful that wars are a thing of the past that would never be repeated. One can only hope.
