Mother's Day Contest

WOW all.....these entries are some of the sweetest and sadest at the sametime. This is going to be by far the hardest contest for me to ever judge.

I am going to be at a loss as to what to do come that day when winners are selected. It will break my heart to have to select winners in this because in my mind we all won when we learned just how special our Mom's are..

For me my Mom is the one who holds it all together for me with my Pop's. Dad and I just don't see eye to eye and when I talk to mom about it ...she is always there to makes amends of things in a way that is both generous and classy without even realizing it.

I rember how my Mom always made me feel safe in this life of mine. How no matter what I did she nenver talked bad to me but always thought about how to best deal with it in a way that I would both understand and accept.

Truly my Mom has the patience of an angel and I love her so and when that day comes when my Mom goes to the next world it will truly be the sadest day in my life because I will have lost the one person who has never judged me for being me.

The only thing that will help me is the knowing that I have a little daughter who loves me in the same way and each day makes me feel like I am the richest man in this crazy world we inhabit...


Thanks for all your posts ...they truly made me remeber some very specuial memories of my Mom.......I am most gratefull to you all for that.

My Mother is really the best, I work long hours she is my babysitter she has to get up at 6 am to come over and wacth my kids and while she is here she does all my housework and laundry , what more can i ask for , Love u Mom

Gee... reading these really brings back memories!I lost my Mother right before Mothers Day last year! Well ...My sis (babsy47) has said mostly what I would have said ,but I'll add to it . mother was always there for us no matter what we did ,right or wrong.& I loved it when she made home-made salt-water taffy ,all our friends would come over & we would pull taffy ,after it got hard , mom would take the handle of the knife & hit it & break it into pieces & give the kids that helped us pull it ,some to take home. that was quite often .& bake home-made light , 8 loaves at a time & 4 pans of buns , which was gone in 2 days . We ate the buns hot ,with butter .Mom was always busy ,I miss her so much now .

Hi all and Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there in cyber world. I don't know if I can do this, the tears are just flowing down my cheeks, I've read all the wonderful things you've said and oh how the memories are flowing, I lost my Mother on Dec. 22,2004 and we layed her to rest on Christmas Eve. That was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. I think of her everyday, I get a lump in my chest and then the tears just flow, when we viewed her for the last time, I'd had wrote a poem and framed it, then read it to her and layed it beside of her. I would like to share my poem with you. But before I do I'd like to say my Mother was my best friend and some people say as long as I live, she lives to, cause I look so much like her and that makes me so proud!! So now when I look into the mirror I see my Mother everyday, so that tells me she's still with me no matter where I am, and She's still telling me to treat people the way I would want them to treat me. She's my guardian Angel.

My mother had a rough time while the 5 of us were growing up. She went through abuse and then was a single parent. She has always taught me that as a female I have to be strong and independent. She is now happily married (20 yrs) and all the kids are grown and gone. She is still an inspiration as she travels about the world, she hikes in the mountains, has her own business and many artistic involvments in the community. I am almostr 45 and I still hope to be like her when I grow up......

Motherhood... a tireless and sometimes thankless task - mother around the world deserve a medal for the job they do on raising their children, and what a job it is seems to be.

I was fortunate in that I was adopted and raised with 3 other fostered brothers, but for my mother I dare not think what my fate would have been. As it is, all I can say is thank you mum - you did a great job raising me, and continue to be a source of strength and a pillar of wisdom to me.

Special HMMM ! Well for starters, a Single parent, trying to rais me was quit the task Seems Like I was always into everything. Loving me Unconditionally an when it came to my Teenage Years YIKES LOOK out I was a Wild an crazy kinda girl. Dont know who I was tolerated LOL Even I would have Kicked MY self in the ASS. But through the thick in thin, Always stayed Calm cool and coolective an Not once underestimated me . But Never let anything thing get by HMMM always was one step ahead of my game. Funny how parents have this like SIXTH SENSE going on HUH?
But here is the TWIST MY Mom is MY DAD . well lets just say my FATHER WAS BOTH HE WAS MOM & DAD HE HAD FULL CUSTODY OF ME SINCE I WAS 1 YEAR OLD. That was not too common 36 years ago. So thats what make my MOM/ DAD soo SPECIAL

This was the hardest of all contests , but I needed to say what I said & it made me feel good , thinking back on all the good times , I had with my mother !
