I have had dogs since i got married it still seams stranged not having a dog (we had to have our dog of 17 yrs . put to sleep ) first one ever. now I only have a cat he is 7yrs. spoiled rotten. very sweet. and big. lots of hair, if anything happened to him I will not have anymore animals. to hard when you lose them. cat name is sam. he never brings me wild things and he never goes outside.

Well Orange having a few animals of my own over the years and currently have a golden doodle. carine terrier cocker spaniel and 3 cats i would have to pick the terrier. she drives me crazy kicking the soccer ball every day but she is a love. Mackieo

I love dogs. I've never had a cat.
My chihuahua Poco died recently. She was 18 years old! That's about as old as they get. We got her when I was still in high school (I'm 37 now!)
(I didn't expect to get teary again just from writing that!)

Well I have two cats and a dog, and Riley has a little fish called Mr Noodle, I was a cat person until my ginger moggie bonkers has decided to increase his whinging 100 fold every year he gets older lol, he is the noisiest cat ever so right now dogs and fish make me most happy lol. Basically anything That does not make too much noise lol

really tough choice, i love cats! and i love dogs! though i must say i really miss my hammy (hamster) he just passed on recently. so i guess i will choose hamsters.

I prefer cats myself. They don't need as much attention. I do love dogs, but I never have the time for walks and stuff. I also like fish because they are quiet, not messy and they don't eat much.... lol

Since I recently buried the doggie that was the best half of me for 15 years, I will never have another dog. I don't even hesitate to say that in general I like animals more than I like most people and I am a people lover. Animals are more humane than humans.
I would choose a young gorilla to raise. So that everyone who met her would understand even more than they did already how they feel and think.
I guess you all know about the gorilla KoKo who can converse with anyone about anything using standard sign language.
KoKo was riding in a car with her friend (a human woman) one day and they passed a horse pulling a buggy full of tourists. KoKo signed "Horsie sad". Jane asked her why. KoKo signed "Hard thing in horsie's mouth hurt teeth."
If you saw the horse and buggy, how many of you would notice first thing the metal bit in the horse's mouth with the straps attached that the driver pulled on to direct the horse?
I want more people to be aware of things like that -- all animals -- what you feel, they feel, physically and emotionally. How could we have progressed so far and still have so many people believing that animals cannot even think or feel?
They love their "masters" unconditionally and so many of those masters let them be thirsty or too hot or half-starved or half-frozen or sick or scared or hurt badly and those superior humans pay no attention at all,but just let them suffer.
How would you like to be confined to an area about ten square feet by something tied around your neck - and ignored- for all or most of your life?
Maybe more people could see some of that in a gorilla.
By the way, gorillas in the wild are killed just to have their hands cut off to make ash trays out of.
Can you imagine what I would do to someone having and bragging about that ash tray?
