" Warning : Longwindedness Ahead. Be Prepared. " LOL;)
Well, what a coincidence that I happen across this contest just at the moment of THIS question! It just so happens....
Yes, I recently told off someone and yes, she REALLY deserved it. Hear the details and I bet you all will agree.
Firstly, it isn't a real common thing for me to do even when I am in the right - to confront someone & tell them off. I'm more apt to let someone get away with it, I guess... not that I'm a complete doormat... just not a confrontational type of person. So this was to me a pretty major event...
I went to Wal-Mart recently with a friend of mine and her adult daughter... I say adult, which she is technically, but really, she's still just a kid to us, I think she's 19. She's REALLY pretty, but she definitely knows it, and is very manipulative and immature at times. And she's been getting into minor troubles with the law now, and will soon have a regrettably "impressive" rap sheet, I'm sure. I'd seen shades of these negative traits of hers before this, but she'd never done me wrong 'til this event... we'd never had a problem; I thought we liked each other just fine etc...
But that day, she made me think otherwise...
We all went our separate ways in WalMart to do our shopping, and after I checked out, I stopped in the restroom before going on out to the car (I was the one driving, BTW.) While in the restroom, Leah (that's her) came in, and said they'd been waiting at the car, but couldn't get in since I had the keys. So I told her to go on back out & tell her mom that I was on my way out too. I still wanted to wash my hands or whatever I still needed a minute in the bathroom for before I was ready to leave.
She then casually asks me if I'll carry her jacket out for her to the car. I did think this was just a TAD odd thing to ask, 'cause her hands weren't full or anything, I didn't know why she would ask me to carry her jacket out, and I DID think just suspiciously enough of her about it to ask, kinda jokingly, "Well, is it YOURS?"
She said "Yeah, what?"
I said "You know what I mean...." (Because she had admitted prior shoplifting acts to me sometime before this, and may have even been caught shoplifting and faced police at least once for it...)
But she again said "Yeah, of course!"
So I really didn't feel there was anything to worry about from that moment - I felt like I had been right to ask that question in light of my suspicions, and once I had VERIFIED that this was not a stolen item I was getting ready to carry out, I thought I'd taken care of things. I mean, I could just as easily see me being suspicious about it but not even questioning her, just to avoid confrontation, and just going on out the door with it, worrying about it, but just hoping for no troubles, just so I wouldn't have to say anything about it to her.
And if it had been another situation, where the consequences at risk were less serious, I'm sure I wouldn't have said anything. But at least I had the sense to consider the consequences, and realized they were serious enough that this time, I would have to say something to be sure I wasn't putting myself at risk of big trouble. Which I DID by ASKING her to be SURE that this was really her own jacket and not WalMArt's, and I felt like I'd done what needed to be done even though I really didn't want to ask her that, and after hearing her confirm that for me, I thought all was fine. Because I made SURE before walking out with it, right? By ASKING her. I did what I should do and shouldve been able to not worry about it because I'd made SURE... See how I was thinking?
Well, how stupid of me. Why would I blindly believe her answer, especially since I already said how I was well aware of how important it would be, if it turned out she had indeed stolen it and asked me to carry it out the door instead of her.
And I really should have been more suspicious, because she didn't just hand it to me to carry out, when I agreed to carry it out for her... no, she proceeded to stuff it all into my purse, where it BARELY fit, and then zipped up my purse and fastened the outer flaps and everything, all very nicely secured and all bundled up, for SOME reason!
And then she walked on out, as I had told her to do, and I primped for a minute, and headed the same way.
On my way out, I reached into my purse for my car keys, but I couldn't find them easily, with this big mass of material that was her jacket all wadded up in the way of everything, so I extracted the jacket from my purse to get to my keys, and then just slung the jacket over my arm, (the NORMAL way most people would typically carry their jacket, not the way she had done it, stuffing it into my purse...) and headed out the door into the parking lot, where Leah & her mom were both waiting at my car, got in and drove off.
Before we had even gotten out of the Walmart lot, something Leah said made me realize that yes, as anyone reading this already knows I'm sure, yes, she had in fact just stolen that jacket from Wal Mart. She'd come into the bathroom with it, which is when she found me in there too, and went into the stall to remove the tags, came out and pretended it was hers and asked me to walk out with it, just to avoid any possible trouble that she might run into on her way out. Knowing full well that that obviously meant that I was the one who would be in trouble if there was any, and not giving a damn about that!
Thank God that we got lucky, and nobody happened to notice as I walked out with one of their jackets over my arm, in clear view of EVERYONE, as if I didn't KNOW it was stolen! Which I of course didn't.
But in the car, once I realized what she was saying, that she had shoplifted it, and was totally ignoring the larger issue of putting me at total risk and all that, I got SO mad! And I told her alllll about it.
Everything I did and said from that moment on was so instinctive or something like that, so natural... because I was so in the right in this case, and she was SO wrong to have done that to me (or to anybody). If I ever confront anyone with anything, I feel like I have to "prepare" what I'm gonna say first, 'cause I have a hard time saying what I mean, and how I mean it, especially spontaneously...I'm just not the best communicator at times. Especially in emotional times, like if I'm mad, 'cause I get so flustered and can barely talk... words don't come easily to me then and I always find it difficult expressing myself the way I want to.
But this was different, I went off on her. The first thing I did was grab that stupid jacket out of her lap and without missing a beat, threw it OUT the car window into the parking lot, and kept on driving out of the lot! All the while letting her have it, said all the right things that I knew I should say and had the right to say very direct and blunt, not beating around the bush or worrying about being polite and all that, and did not stop until I was finished. And I think I shocked her, and first, she was speechless.
I was so mad I couldn't see straight. I definitely couldn't drive straight. I was driving pretty recklessly out of the parking lot, fishtailing and cutting in front of other cars leaving the lot and everything, instead of my usual way of politely waiting etc.... yelling at her the whole time. Her mom was in the backseat and said hardly a word.
Luckily, we were just going a couple blocks to someone's house, a guy who was a friend of theirs who I had just met and didn't really even know. I'd already decided that when we got there, I was kicking her out of my car, and she wasn't ever getting back in it and told her so, and whether she liked it or not, she was getting out & staying there and I didn't care what she did after that, but she for sure wasn't coming with me, as had been the original plan. So when I pulled into their driveway, I was basically still yelling at her, and grabbing all her belongings that were in my car, and getting them OUT of my car, along with HER, and then pretty much just shut all the doors and backed out and left. Just left 'em there.
I still can't get over her doing that. If you're reading this and thinking I over reacted, then you haven't really put yourself in my shoes in that situation, I don't think, because I still think of that as such a horrible awful thing for her to have done - I just could not believe she or ANYONE could do that. And acted like I wouldn't even care.
And her reaction to my tirade was just all wrong, she did not receive it graciously, apologize or show regret or anything like that. At first, she was bascially speechless, but then, her normal self came back to life, and she was just throwing stupid senseless insulting comments back at me, although I OBVIOUSLY hadn't done ANYthing for her to be mad about, and saying "Don't look at me, don't even look at me!" when I was trying to leave. Not making any sense and just saying the most immature and mean things to me. She didn't know how to show any humility. She definitely is lacking in the character department.
Anyway, guess I felt the need to get that story out huh? Need satisfied!
And my dumb boyfriend, who really isn't dumb at all, I consider him very smart and very moral and very good judgment and all that, and when I told him what she did, expecting him to be equally indignant at the GALL she had to do that, and as outraged as I was that she could do that, in total disregard of my safety etc.etc.... And he refuses to agree with me that it was all that BAD of a transgression! Acts like it's no big deal, and when I said "Think about if she had done that to YOU! You would NOT feel that way then, would you?" (because I know it would have been EVEN worse FOR HER if it had been him and not me - I KNOW this) but he won't admit it for some reason, and I can't see why. Not like him.
Anyway, there's quite an answer for that one, anyone still with me after all that? LOL...
so now I need a question....
How about...
Have you ever known a man who was a crossdresser? ![]()

wow, sunspun, you took half an hour to say what could have been said in 5 minutes!!! You obviously feel like you need to explain why you were so pissed off...but you really didn't. I am the same, I am very non-confrontational - also cos I get so flustered when I am angry that I can't find the words to say what I want to say. But if someone had done that to me I would have definitely let them have it. You probably did exactly what I would have done. I would love to know what her mother has to say. To you, and about her daughter?!?!? Dunno why your boyfriend would disagree with you (or why anyone would for that matter).
