I'm no help either other than when it happens to me I reboot and it seems to work after that.

I don't know why it happens, but it happens to me a lot, only when I'm posting banners; it freezes everything up..doesn't seem to happen as much when I'm using Firefox as IE8.

I refuse to run IE8- only recently upped to IE7, and ONLY 'cuz an un-named site I like stopped allowing me in with IE6...SIGH!
Anyways, it definitely has to do with the bloody TABS! Do not allow TABS! Helps me, only happens 1 of 10 times instead of 6 of 10!
Instead- make things open in a NEW window, of course only when they are trusted.
If you do the New window thing, you must ENABLE these 2:
IE/Tools/Security/Custom Level
1-Allow access data across domains
2-Allow navigate subframes across domains
Of course, I agree with Ambre about Firefox- also Opera is a great browser for older or slower computers too.
