Halloween? The spooky Halloween holiday? OOOOOOH, BE MIGHTY CAREFUL, my friends!
Surely you know it was, before Christianity, a pagan holiday when evil was celebrated. Christians have never been able to stop it, so they finally joined it.
BUT......... BE CAREFUL! I'm warning you!
If a candle suddenly goes out by itself on Halloween, as though by breath or wind, it is believed that a ghost has come to call.
Always burn new candles on Halloween to ensure the best of luck. It is not a good idea to burn Halloween candles at any other time of the year. It may bring bad luck or strange things will happen to you, over which you will have no control.
If you hear footsteps trailing close behind you on Halloween night, do not to turn around to see who it is, for it may be Death himself! To look Death in the eye, according to ancient folklore, is a sure way to hasten your own demise.
To cast a headless shadow or no shadow at all is still believed by many folks in the United States and Europe to be an omen of death in the course of the next year.
If a bat flies around a house three times, it is considered to be a death omen.
A person born on Halloween can both see and talk to spirits.
If you see a spider on Halloween, it could be the spirit of a dead loved one who is watching you.
Put your clothes on inside out and walk backwards on Halloween night to meet a witch.
You should walk around your home three times backwards and counterclockwise before sunset on Halloween to ward off evil spirits.
In Britain, people believed that the Devil was a nut-gatherer. At Halloween, nuts were used as magic charms.

We used to all go trick-or-treating when I was a kid, and I loved that. We'd go out for hours! Usually come in and unload and then go back out again! Our costumes were always the same thing, but that meant it was different every time, 'cause all we would do was put on the craziest outfit we could make up! I don't know what we thought we were, but we were awful funny-looking. I never knew what to answer when someone opened their door and said ,"Oh my, and what are you dressed as??" lol
These days, I often go over to my parents' house and help them hand out candy. They still get quite a few trick-or-treaters in their neighborhood.
My mom always cooks a big pot of chili on Hallowe'en night.
She also has a unique tradition which she started years ago, which all the neighborhood kids and their parents love. She keeps a Polaroid camera handy at the door, and takes as many pictures as she can of every trick-or-treater that comes knocking. Then she gives the picture to the kids to take home, so they can have a memento of how they were dressed that year. It costs her a little bit, of course, but it's worth it to her, when kids come to the door, and remember that she's the lady who takes their pictures every year.
I remember one year when they were out of town, and she asked me to hand out candy at their house while they were gone, and she left the Polaroid there, adn told me to be sure and take pictures of them all, since they'd be expecting it. Well, I forgot to go get any film for the camera before the kids started coming! They were so disappointed! SO before the night was over, I sent someone to the store for some film, and managed not to disappoint them all anyway!
